Over 2.5 sets between Wimbledon women’s finalists a sweet 6/4
Ladies’ singles final day at Wimbledon is a repeat from the Australian Open earlier in the season with WTA world number one Serena Williams taking on Angelique Kerber.
It was fourth seed and top German pro Kerber who triumphed in Melbourne over all-time Grand Slam great Williams, winning in three sets and our bet of the day is for their latest clash to go the distance again.
Punters have the safety of avoiding nailing their colours to the mast by taking the 6/4 on offer with Coral for this latest Serena v Kerber clash to go over 2.5 sets. Here’s why this looks worth a wager…
Form of Down Under battle looks good
Williams is in her ninth Wimbledon singles final and has been taken to a deciding set twice before, yet lost when going the distance Down Under with Kerber.
Serena will want to level Steffi Graf’s Open Era record off 22 individual Grand Slam titles, but has been waiting to do so since last year’s All England Club tennis Major.
Cunning Kerber is yet to drop a set, but still lost service games with alarming regularity during her 6-4 6-4 semi-final victory against the other Williams sister, Venus.
Getting on going the distance makes sense
Although by contrast Serena was hugely impressive when battering Elena Vesnina 6-2 6-0, the occasion was clearly too much for her Russian opponent to handle.
Kerber provides far stiffer competition for this Williams sibling, and Serena will want to prove a point by beating the German and avenging that Australian Open final loss.
With so many elements coming together here, there’s all the ingredients for this to be a classic, so get behind that sweet 6/4 for Serena Williams and Kerber to go over 2.5 sets.
