All-conquering trainer Aidan O’Brien has seen his stable recover from a blip at the start of this month, so The Happy Prince to win the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes at The Curragh (14:50) is Coral’s bet of the day for Sunday, September 25th.

Read on below to discover more detailed reasons why this four-year-old bay colt is a worthy market principal for the 6f contest at one of the many racecourses in Ireland we have a commercial partnership with…

Unlucky loser when last seen in action

Beaten a short-head into second by Breton Rock in the Group 2 Saint Gobain Weber Park Stakes on St Leger day at Doncaster last time out, The Happy Prince was unlucky to lose.

Making the frame in each of his four starts in August and September, this is an in-form horse that has beaten some re-opposing race rivals.

The Happy Prince's win at Navan last month puts a rubber stamp on his form.

Prior to his Doncaster outing, The Happy Prince won a 5 1/2 f contest at Navan defeating In Salutem by 1 3/4 lengths as well as Flight Risk.

G Force, who came third in that race, has since gone out and finished fourth of 23 to Brando in the prestigious Ayr Cup. That gives The Happy Prince’s form a solid look.

Lower calibre of opposition

Stepping down a Group adds further allure to the selection, who has been put up just 1lb in the weights for this race. The Happy Prince has been placed carrying as much as 9st 10lb previously, so 9st 5lb in the saddlebags and on board should be no problem.

Handler O’Brien had a winner and two close seconds at Newmarket just yesterday, so the yard has clearly shrugged off some disappointments earlier in the month.

The Happy Prince is thus appealing for plenty of reasons in the Renaissance Stakes this Sunday.
