Bet of the Day: Atletico Madrid to bag victory and clean sheet

Simeone’s men visit a patchy FC Copenhagen

After a surprise Champions League Group Stage exit, Atletico Madrid begin their Europa League quest away to FC Copenhagen on Thursday night.

Diego Simeone’s side are in strong form ahead of their visit to Denmark. Los Colchoneros have won each of their last three games without conceding a goal.

They currently boast La Liga’s strongest defence, having conceded just nine times in 23 games. And 15 of the Madrid club’s last 16 wins have been accompanied by a clean sheet.

Copenhagen are in less impressive form. They’ve lost seven of their last 16 matches, including a home defeat to Brondby earlier this month. Coral’s Bet of the Day is Atletico Madrid to Win to Nil at 6/5.

French hitman in fantastic form

After a slow start to the season, Antoine Griezmann has found his shooting boots in recent weeks. The Frenchman has registered in four of his last five games – and he’s had a habit of breaking the deadlock.

Three of his last four goals have opened the scoring in games – including Saturday’s strike away at Malaga, which arrived after just 40 seconds.

Griezmann to Score Anytime at 13/10 is backable. However, with the 26-year-old starting games in sensational style, and the hosts unlikely to find the net, First Goalscorer: Griezmann is the Coral News Team’s pick of the bunch at 10/3.

Visitors can breeze to victory

Stale Solbakken’s men have suffered a few humbling defeats this term. Those have included a 3-0 defeat to Superliga strugglers SonderjyskE, and a 3-1 loss to a Lyngby side who’ve won just four of their 20 league games this term.

As for Atletico, they’ve won nine games this season by a margin of two or more goals, including the recent 3-0 rout of Las Palmas. And Simeone’s charges have also outscored the opposition in five outings this term.

The Atletico Madrid -1 handicap is available at 17/10, while Atleti to Win Both Halves is an appealing 17/5.
