Bet of the Day: Back Leverkusen to match Bayern in Friday thriller

Richard Marsh | 12 January 2018

Bundesliga makes a welcome return

After a month off, Germany’s Bundesliga roars back into life with a cracking clash between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.

Both sides will be ready to kick-start the second half of the season, but this could prove to be Bayern’s most difficult fixture of the campaign.

Jupp Heynckes replaced Carlo Ancelotti in the Bayern hotseat earlier this season, but the league leaders remain suspect on the road.

Der FCB have failed to win their last four trips to the BayArena, and Leverkusen are unbeaten at home this term. Coral’s Bet of the Day is Bayer Leverkusen/Draw Double Chance at 19/20.

Expect plenty of goal action

Bayern haven’t even scored in their last three visits to Leverkusen, but the goals have been flying in at the BayArena this season.

Bayer’s eight home games have yielded 25 goals in total, an average of more than three a match. Half of those have seen four or more goals scored.

Over 2.5 goals looks assured at 8/15 while over 3.5 is 13/10. Don’t rule out over 4.5 either at a handy 3/1.

Lewandowski’s Bayer battles

Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski leads the Bundesliga goalscorers on 15 for the season.

But the Poland hotshot has scored just three times in 14 meetings with Leverkusen.

He’s 11/4 favourite to net first and 3/4 anytime, but better value lies elsewhere.

Bayer’s Kevin Volland has struck nine times this term, including four in his last nine games.

The 25-year-old is 6/1 to open the scoring for the sixth time this season, while the 9/5 on him to score anytime is also worth considering.
