Alan Shearer looks ahead to Augusta Kate’s Cheltenham run
I am really excited for Augusta Kate’s run tomorrow in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle. I know Ruby and Willie have not had the best of starts to Cheltenham. Hopefully their luck will change otherwise I’d be slightly concerned for obvious reasons. We are told she is well so we are expecting a big run.
I’ll be really nervous tomorrow. I’d much rather be playing football as I am in control then. As an owner you have to leave it down to the horse and the jockey on the day. It is great to be here though. I have been watching the last two days from home and I have really enjoyed it. The atmosphere has been incredible.
Ant and Dec won’t be here tomorrow but myself, Lee Westwood, Chubby Chandler and Graham Wylie will be to cheer her on. We will gather together to watch the race. If we win I might have to put a call into the Match of the Day and let them know there might be a man missing on Saturday. I am pretty sure it will be a long Friday afternoon and evening if she is successful.
I love the atmosphere of horse racing. I don’t claim to be an expert, but the excitement is just great. To be an owner of a horse who has a serious chance at the Cheltenham Festival is just incredible. This is what everybody dreams about and we are so lucky to be here again for the second year running.
