Alan Shearer likes the Premier League starts made by Chelsea, Man City and Manchester United
In the latest of a series of sit-down interviews with Coral’s own Simon Clare, football ambassador and Premier League all-time top scorer Alan Shearer spoke about how the English top-flight is shaping up.
Shearer likes the starts Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have made to Premier League life this season, and feels the lack of European football for Antonio Conte’s Blues and Liverpool could be helpful to their title tilts….
“New managers wanting to make a statement”
“I think Chelsea will have a big advantage of having no European football, as will Liverpool,” said Shearer.
“Man United and Man City have got off to very good starts. They haven’t performed brilliantly at all times, but have managed to get the results, which is what it’s all about.
“When you consider new managers wanting to make a statement and new players needing to make a statement, then the Manchester clubs and Chelsea have certainly done that.”
Somewhat tongue in cheek, Clare also asked Shearer if he’d recovered from the sight of Gary Lineker presenting the opening Match of the Day in his pants:
