Shearer Says: “De Bruyne must be a dream to play with as a centre-forward”

Premier League legend shares his thoughts on Man City

Manchester City have been nothing short of breathtaking so far this season.

They have swept aside everybody with ease, including the defending champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where I know the scoreline does not suggest it, but they were in full control of that game.

They have everything in place to be very successful.

A brilliant stadium, an owner who spends a huge amount of money and one of the best managers in the world who has learned from the mistakes of last season and has been able to work out what they did and didn’t need.

I know they started last season well but they do seem to have a different edge about them this year.

They now have a goalkeeper who seems more than capable and gives confidence to his defenders in front of him.

The players he brought in at wing-back have also made a big difference to the quality of the team.

Brilliant De Bruyne

If I was to single out one player, Kevin De Bruyne has been absolutely magnificent recently.

He must be a dream to play with as a centre-forward, as if you make the runs into the box, nine times out of ten, he will find you.

No wonder the team score as many goals as they do with a player like that pulling the strings in midfield.

Sky’s the limit for Sky Blues

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Manchester City have some success in Europe over the next couple of years.

If they fall short this year, they will learn from it and come back stronger next season. They have everything in place to be very successful domestically and in Europe over the next 10 years.

It is too early to say how good this team is in terms of the best sides we have seen in Premier League history. We are only eight games into the season but the signs are encouraging.

Don’t forget Arsenal went through a full season unbeaten so the bar is high. City fans have every reason to be hopeful though that they can achieve something special.
