Shearer says: “Expect United to try and hit Liverpool on the break.”

Premier League icon previews huge weekend clash

If Manchester United go on to finish second and win a trophy this season, their fans will be pretty content with that.

It will have hurt the fans and Jose Mourinho, but Manchester City have just been miles better than anyone else so the rest of the teams have been fighting for second place for a long time now.

It is important to finish as high as possible so both teams will have their eye on that second spot.

United finished fifth last season so to go from that to second, would be a sign of progression.

Liverpool look to be improving under Jurgen Klopp but they are bit like Tottenham you feel that isn’t enough.

They have to get back to winning something. They are brilliant to watch going forward, score lots of goals but unless you win something, it is all for nothing.

Their only chance now is the Champions League which is going to be tough to win. They have already spent money on a midfielder for next summer in Keita so they have already planned to strengthen.

They still need a couple more players at the very least though to get anywhere near City.

Jose won’t go for all out attack against Liverpool even though they are the home side.

I watched their game against Crystal Palace on Monday evening and I thought they were brilliant in the second half.

Whatever Jose said to them at half-time did the trick because it was an excellent comeback but I expect United to sit back and try and hit Liverpool on the break.
