Shearer says: “Man City are playing some sparkling football going forward, and scoring goals Aguero looks unbelievable”

Coral’s Simon Clare caught up with football ambassador Alan Shearer about Tottenham v Manchester City, the weekend’s most attractive Premier League game on paper.

Shearer has seen plenty of both Man City and Spurs this season, so hear all about his views on this Super Sunday showdown at White Hart Lane below:

Manchester City give teams chances

While Alan heaps praise upon Pep Guardiola and the Etihad outfit, he feels they can be got at defensively – a point illustrated by the 3-3 Champions League draw at Celtic in midweek.

“Obviously, you can’t not be impressed with Manchester City and the way Pep has got his ideas over to his players so early, and they all seem to be on the same sheet as him,” Shearer said.

“Man City are playing some sparkling football going forward, and scoring goals [Sergio] Aguero looks unbelievable. I think watching the Celtic game that defensively they do give chances away.

“Even in the games where they have played well, in a few of them they’ve let teams back into the game and given them chances. Those team haven’t always taken the chances, but at least they’re there, so that will give Spurs some encouragement.

“Son has stepped up to the plate and scored goals for Spurs”

Son Heung-Min goals have not escaped Coral football ambassador Alan Shearer's notice as he gives his Tottenham v Manchester City thoughts.

Alan also noted how South Korea forward Son Heung-Min has taken on the goalscoring burden for Tottenham in recent matches.

“Harry Kane is of course out injured. Who was going to fill in for him? Well, Son has stepped up to the plate and scored goals,” Shearer continued.

“I do think it’ll be a very good game and both teams will score goals. Both teams look a bit suspect defensively. [Jan] Vertonghen, a couple of times this year, does give you chances.”
