Argentina looking for performance from Tevez on his recall

Carlos Tevez is 7/2 with Coral to score first on his return to the Argentina squad, who take on Croatia in an attempt to avenge a 3-2 defeat in 2006. The South American side are odds-on at 1/5 for the win.

On that particular occasion, the Juventus frontman, who has 10 goals in 14 appearances in all competitions this season, netted one of three in the first six minutes of the match. He was in good company that day, with teammate Lionel Messi also scoring who is 3/1 to break the deadlock, as well as Darijo Srna – an excellent 8/1 to strike anytime.

Barcelona may not have been in the best of form this season, though that still hasn’t stopped the mercurial Messi from managing 11 goals in 15 appearances. Last time out, the number 10 bagged a brace, as La Albiceleste demolished Hong Kong 7-0, and is 3/1 to achieve the same or more against Croatia. A smart option could turn out to be staking a higher amount on his first scorer price, and a lower sum on the generous latter recommended bet.

Set to line up in attack as well is Premier League top scorer Sergio Aguero, who is also 3/1 to strike first. Against Hong Kong, Gonzalo Higuain also bagged a brace, and is a fantastic 4/1 to do exactly the same, and 7/2 to get the first goal.

Also in the same match, Nicola Gaitan was on target twice and is 11/1 to achieve the same feat or more. The Benfica attacker is one of the brightest prospects in Europe at the minute, and has been tracked by a number of the continent’s clubs.

For Croatia, Mario Mandzukic could well be their best hope of scoring, and the Atletico Madrid man has scored eight goals in 15 fixtures this season. The centre forward has struck on two occasions already this term for Croatia, in a 2-0 friendly win over Cyprus. He is 8/1 to strike first, and 11/4 to net anytime. With exceptional service from Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic, Alen Halilovic and Srna from the flank, Atleti’s main man has more of a chance of hitting the target.

In great form this season, is Mandzukic’s potential strike partner, Nikola Kalinic who has netted on 10 occasions in 21 across all competitions this term, and the 26-year-old is 8/1 to open the scoring.

Odds on a repeat 3-2 scoreline, though in Argentina’s favour is 40/1 and for both teams to net, which seems likely, there is a superb 7/5 price.

However, all eyes are likely to be on Tevez, who will be hoping to impress on his return to the Argentina national team.
