Achievement: Manchester City ladies right back part of England squad that finished third at the Women’s World Cup. Bronze was nominated for the Golden Ball at the tournament.

Age: 29
Achievement: Regained Heptathlon title at World Athletics Championships in Beijing just 13 months after giving birth to her son.

Beijing 2015 IAAF World Championships

Achievement: Successfully defended the men’s world 5000m and 10000m titles, cementing his status as Britain’s best-ever long-distance runner.

Achievement: Won the Tour de France for the second time in his career, regaining the title after crashing out in 2014.

Achievement: Dethroned Wladimir Klitschko on points to become WBA, IBF and WBO World Heavyweight champion, and is the first British fighter to win a belt in that weight class for six years.

Sport: Formula 1
Age: 30
Achievement: Retained the Drivers’ Championship to become a three-time winner and emulate motor racing legend Sir Jackie Stewart.

Andy Murray

Davis Cup - Belgium v Great Britain - Final - Day Three - Flanders Expo Centre

Age: 28
Achievement: Led Team GB to their first Davis Cup triumph since the Fred Perry era some 79 years ago. Although a team event, Murray won all 11 of his rubbers, including eight singles matches.
