Bet of the day: Ibrahimovic to score and Sweden win
Matt Haynes | November 14, 2015
Coral’s Bet Of The Day concerns the small matter of a Euro 2016 play-off, as two major rivals, Sweden and Denmark, face off.
Zlatan’s the man
This match is only about one man. Having been named Swedish footballer of the year for a record 10th time this week, customers can get exceptional odds of 11/4 on the PSG forward scoring and Sweden winning.
Ibrahimovic’s record for his country is staggering. With 59 goals in 109 appearances, he is more than capable of taking that tally well over 60 against Denmark, though the player believes that his goals for PSG have helped to raise the profile of French football.
“I’m very happy about that,” Ibrahimovic said in reference to his 115 goals for the Ligue 1 champions.
“Sweden and France on World map”
Ibrahimovic, who can score an array of remarkable goals continued: “I would love to play at the European Championship in France,” the striker said. “I have played there for four years. I have put Sweden on the world map and now I have put France on the world map too.
“If it’s over [for me] after the play-offs? We’ll see. If you’re asking me now? No. If you ask me after the play-offs? I don’t know.”
Although he has never scored against Denmark, the PSG forward shrugged this off, saying: “It doesn’t mean anything,” he said. “There will be goals when there is goals. If we create chances they’ll turn up.”
The player can take confidence from the fact that Denmark’s defence can be breached and he has all the attributes to do so.
Likely to be watched by Daniel Agger, the former Liverpool centre back showed on more than one occasion in the Premier League that he is susceptible in one-on-one situations and Ibrahimovic is more than clever enough to take advantage of his weaknesses.
