Odds, tips and preview ahead of Champions League opener
The Champions League returns tonight, with all eyes on the game of the week at Anfield.
Liverpool host French powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain in the opening round of fixtures in Group C.
Both sides have won all five of their domestic league games so far this season and will want to continue their positive momentum in this one.
You can watch the game on BT Sport 2 from 8:00pm and the Coral News Team have all the info ahead of the crunch-match.
This will be only the third meeting between the pair and first in 19 years.
PSG ran out 3-2 aggregate winners in the European Cup Winners Cup semi-final in 1997.
The French side won 3-0 at the Parc des Princes before Liverpool threatened a come-back, winning 2-0 at Anfield.
The key question for Liverpool is whether forward Roberto Firmino will recover in time. The Brazilian international suffered an eye injury in the win over Tottenham last weekend.
If the 26-year-old doesn’t make it, then Xherdan Shaqiri or Daniel Sturridge could come in.
Fabinho is unlikely to start, with a midfield of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Giorginio Wijnaldum expected to start.
As for the Parisians, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe should return to join Edinson Cavani in the front-three.
New boss Thomas Tuchel has deployed Marquinhos in defensive midfield and should do this again with Marco Veratti suspended.
Attack versus attack. It will all about which attacking trio come out on top under the Anfield lights tonight.
Liverpool broke the all-time record for goals in a single Champions League campaign notching 47 goals in their run to the final last year.
The Reds front three contributing to 30 of those, with 10 apiece.
However, they may not get the chance to be at their free-flowing best as they will have to pay close attention to PSG’s own formidable front-line.
Kylian Mbappe is back and will want to add another scalp to his growing list. Neymar also craves the limelight and will hope to be the star of the show.
Liverpool are at Evens to start with a win.
However, Jurgen Klopp has put his players on red alert ahead of this one, talking up his opponent’s fire-power. PSG are 12/5 to come away with a valuable away win.
The draw is 14/5 shot.
Sadio Mane has been on a hot-streak in front of goal in the Premier League this season and the forward is 9/5 to score Anytime.
If Sturridge does start then he could be a real threat. He’s 5/1 to notch first.
PSG are very capable of running up a score here, Mbappe is 15/2 to score 2 or more goals.
