Celtic host Aberdeen in top two Scottish Premiership encounter

Celtic will be aiming to extend their lead at the summit of the Scottish Premiership table, when they host second-placed Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Sunday.

Ronny Deila’s reigning champions, 13/8 with Coral to win to nil, have opened a slender three-point lead over their closest rivals, and have also got a game in hand on Derek McInnes’ surprise title hopefuls.

Both sides come into the game in fine domestic league form, with the two sides both dominating in the country’s top division. The brilliant Bhoys have incredibly won their previous seven league fixtures, and have lost just once in 17 Premiership outings.

However, the visitors, 9/2 to win, will be confident of causing an upset in Glasgow, having secured victory in 12 of their last 15 league clashes, and are on a formidable run of away form.

Aberdeen travel to Celtic Park on the back of seven wins in eight matches on their travels, with McInnes’ prolific outfit available at 10/1 to win to nil, after doing so in those last seven away triumphs during an incredible series of results.

Despite both teams dominating domestic proceedings this term, it’s the Hoops who hold a superior head-to-head record over their rivals, with Celtic winning the last three meetings and have been toppled just once in the previous 23 league encounters.

Although, with the Bhoys coming into the crucial meeting on the back of an unfortunate Europa League exit to Inter Milan, Aberdeen will be hoping to capitalise on any lasting disappointment.

Northern Ireland international Niall McGinn will be key to the travelling team’s chances, with the former Celtic forward having become the divisions most creative player this term, making a superb 11 assists, more than any other player.

McGinn is 5/1 to strike anytime against his former employers, after netting seven times already this season.

Adam Rooney has been the striker benefiting from his attacking partner’s clinical creative abilities, after firing in 13 Premiership goals. The Irishman is 8/1 to score first and continue his sensational form.

In-form Hoops forward Kris Commons is enjoying another rampant run this campaign, having struck 10 times in 31 outings in all competitions. The Scotland international fired home the winner against Aberdeen earlier this season, and netted a delightful double in Celtic’s 5-2 win last season.

Clinical Commons is available at 6/1 to strike two or more this time out, having amazingly netted eight times against Aberdeen in the past three seasons.

A win for McInnes’ men would temporarily level the sides on points, with Celtic having a game in hand, but Deila’s champions will be confident of progressing towards their fourth consecutive Scottish league crown.
