Champions League Group D: Manchester City meet Borussia Monchengladbach

Manchester City are odds-on with Coral at 20/23 to beat their German opponents in their second Champions League group game and having dropped off the boil in the Premier League recently, will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Without captain Vincent Kompany, the team have started to concede goals, though Monchengladbach have had a less than impressive start to their season and comprehensively lost their first group game 3-0 to Sevilla.

While City were edged out by last term’s runners-up Juventus, they can be confident of a win, with Sergio Aguero back to 100 per cent and Pellegrini has said that fans will see the Argentine hit top form again in the coming games.

“I don’t think he needs help in this moment because he is not in a bad moment. I am absolutely sure that if he didn’t score in the last two games it was because he was not 100 per cent fit,” a confident Pellegrini said of the 27-year-old who is 7/2 to open the scoring.

“But against Sunderland he participates with a lot of the play for the team so I don’t have any doubt. It’s difficult to know how much he can give to our team,” continued the Chilean. “He was very important in the first title we won.

“Last year he was the top striker in the Premier League. He will always bring a very important amount of goals and play to our team. Of course if not injured he can give more. How much is very difficult to know.”

Encouragingly, new signing Kevin De Bruyne has hit the ground running for City and has very decent odds of 7/4 to strike in the anytime market, while David Silva, who has also been impressive, is 5/2 to do the same.

For the hosts who have won two consecutive Bundesliga matches, Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka has netted in both games and is 9/2 to strike again anytime, with prolific attacker Raffael 12/5 in the same market.
