Barcelona battle PSG and Madrid derby in Champions League quarters

There’s a repeat of last season’s Champions League final in this campaign’s quarters, as Spanish capital rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid meet.

Group stage opponents PSG, who knocked out Chelsea, and Barcelona, conquerors of Manchester City, will also do battle in the last eight for the second time in three seasons in the other tasty looking tie.

Favourites Bayern Munich (15/8 from 9/4) play potential dark horses Porto, and Italian champions Juventus tackle tournament rank outsiders Monaco, who eliminated Arsenal.

Holders Real captured ‘La Decima’, an unparalleled 10th European Cup, by beating Madrid rivals Atletico 4-1 in extra time last May, but have since failed to beat Diego Simeone’s side in six attempts across all competitions.

Despite surviving a scare against Schalke, Real have drifted to 4/1 to retain the trophy (from 10/3) because they are yet to defeat their cross-capital rivals.

Another Champions League meeting between Carlo Ancelotti’s Los Blancos and 14/1 chances Atleti (from 11/1) ensures they shall meet a record eight times in one season.

Europe’s elite club competition has also thrown up some interesting subplots elsewhere, with 5/2 second-favourites Barca (from 11/4) and the Parisians winning one group game apiece earlier this season.

Sweden’s star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Brazilian left back Maxwell and Italy midfielder Thiago Motta all face their former club for 16/1 shots PSG (from 9/1), and will be plotting to topple the Catalan giants.

Juve, who are without influential French midfielder Paul Pogba for two months following a hamstring injury, have seen their odds for European glory halved to 7/1 after getting what is perceived to be a favourable draw against 80/1 joint-outsiders Monaco.

Leonardo Jardim’s team join Portuguese heavyweights Porto in being last in the betting, with the Dragons’ opponents Bayern laying down a major marker by thrashing Shakhtar Donetsk 7-0 in the last 16.

Champions League quarter-final draw:
PSG v Barcelona
Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid
Porto v Bayern Munich
Juventus v Monaco
