Liverpool, Real, Atletico and Dortmund in thrilling 5/1 acca
Coral are offering exciting odds as Europe’s elite sides return to compete in the Champions League group stage.
In a terrifically tempting Tuesday special, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are available at 5/1 all to win their respective games in 90 minutes.
Brendan Rodgers’ Reds will wrestle with Bulgarian minnows Ludogorets Razgrad, whilst Real host Basel, Atletico encounter Olympiakos and Dortmund duel with Arsenal.
Here’s why this is such a marvellous midweek bet.
Liverpool v Ludogorets Razgrad
Liverpool are odds-on favourites at 1/5 to enjoy a triumphant return to Champions League football by defeating Ludogorets, who are making their debut in the group stages of this competition.
As five-time winners of the European Cup, with new sharpshooter Mario Balotelli and experienced skipper Steven Gerrard having both already lifted the trophy, Reds fans will be expecting their side to show their pedigree and best the Bulgarian minnows.
Raheem Sterling is top scorer for Rodgers’ Reds so far this term, having netted twice in four games. The England international is set to continue his sparkling form after being rested at the weekend, and should give his side the edge.
Real Madrid v Basel
Current holders Los Blancos welcome Basel to the Bernabeu, as they prepare to defend their Champions League crown.
Real have emerged victorious from the previous two clashes between the teams, and are odds-on favourites at 1/7 to defeat the Swiss side again.
Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was Champions League top scorer for the second season in a row last term, and is set to begin his defence of that title by helping the Spanish giants to victory
Los Blancos last battled Basel in 1971, when they put four past their opponents over two legs, and Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded side are 15/2 to repeat history and net a quartet of goals in this encounter.
Olympiakos vs Atletico Madrid
Last term’s Champions League finalists and La Liga winners Atletico kick off their European campaign against Greek outfit Olympiakos, who they are odds-on at 17/20 to beat.
Diego Simeone’s side are unbeaten in all competitions so far this season, and will arrive in Greece fresh from a morale-boosting weekend victory.
Atleti have never encountered Olympiakos in European competition before, but began last season’s Champions League with a 3-1 victory over Zenit St Petersburg, and are 20/1 to replicate that scoreline in this clash.
Much is expected of goal hero Mario Mandzukic, who has two in four appearances for Atleti so far this term, and proven pedigree in the Champions League with former club Bayern Munich.
Borussia Dortmund v Arsenal
Jurgen Klopp’s men faced Arsenal twice in the Champions League last term, and put two past the Gunners at the Emirates. Dortmund are evens to claim the spoils, and 11/1 to put two past Arsene Wenger’s boys again.
The German giants take an advantage into this game after tasting Bundesliga victory against Freiburg in their last clash, and having won four out of five matches so far this season. Arsenal, meanwhile, endured an exhausting draw with title rivals Manchester City last time out.
Japan star Shinji Kagawa has returned to Klopp’s side following a stint with Manchester United and, after scoring upon his return, is 7/2 to net anytime in this encounter. Kagawa has previous form against the Gunners in the Champions League, having already shocked them with a 90th minute goal for Dortmund in 2011, and is 6/1 to hit home last again.
