Odds and tips on tonight’s big European clashes

The Champions League returns tonight, with the blockbuster tie coming at Old Trafford. Cristiano Ronaldo heads back to Manchester United as a Juventus player, and we’ve got a Big Match Breakdown on it here.

But there’s plenty more top UCL action across the continent, including a tough test for Manchester City and a big night for an Ajax side in sparkling form.

Ahead of kick-off, we’ve got a flurry of top tips on the European action…

Ajax v Benfica

The Dutch side are on fire at present. They’re unbeaten in five games, with their only draw coming away at Bayern Munich.

De Godenzonen have mauled the opposition in their last two games, winning 5-0 against AZ Alkmaar, and 3-2 at Heerenveen. As for opponents Benfica, they’ve been grinding out results domestically – but haven’t looked convincing.

It’s 17/20 for an Ajax win at Amsterdam ArenA, while Erik ten Hag’s men are 23/10 in the -1 handicap.

Moroccan ace Hakim Ziyech is banging the goals in from midfield, with seven already this term. He’s 13/5 to Score Anytime, while his Ajax side are 9/5 to net in Both Halves.

Shakhtar Donetsk v Man City

Pep Guardiola’s men hadn’t lost for more than seven months ahead of their December 2017 trip to Donetsk, but were seen off 2-1 by a clinical Shakhtar side.

While the Citizens are likely to take a stronger squad to Ukraine this time around, they face a Shakhtar side who’ve won six of their last eight home UCL games.

We make it 11/5 for Double Chance: Shakhtar or Draw. Meanwhile, with plenty of attacking talent on show, it’s 4/6 for Both Teams to Score.

Sergio Aguero at 8/11 heads the Anytime Scorer market, while the hosts’ Junior Moraes is 2/1 to add to his tally of 12 goals from 14 outings this term.

Young Boys Bern v Valencia

Valencia aren’t the prettiest side to watch, but they are effective. Unbeaten in six, they’ve conceded a miserly three goals in the process.

They face a Swiss side who have lost each of their first two group games in resounding fashion, with a pair of 3-0 defeats.

In the match betting, Valencia are 23/20 favourites. Meanwhile, with none of Los Che’s last six eight games producing over two goals, it’s 10/11 for Under 2.5 Goals here.

In the Correct Score market, the visitors are 7/1 for a 1-0 victory.

Hoffenheim v Olympique Lyonnais

Lyon pulled off a 2-1 win at the Etihad in the opening game, and could upset the odds against a Hoffenheim side who’ve lost three home matches in a row – all 2-1.

The Ligue 1 giants are 13/5 outsiders for victory, while it’s 11/1 they pull off another 2-1 win.

Former Celtic prodigy Moussa Dembele is bang in form right now, registering five times in six games. The youngster is 9/5 to net Anytime, while it’s 6/1 he’s First Goalscorer here.
