Wednesday’s key storylines on Champions League Matchday Three

Man United can practically seal qualification with win

Matchday three of this season’s Champions League group stage has had some cracking games so far. And Wednesday night’s round of fixtures is no different.

Three British clubs are in action alongside Barcelona, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Coral News Team take a look at the key storylines ahead of the games.

Celtic in Munich

Few would have given Celtic much of a chance in a group consisting of Bayern Munich and PSG.

However, with a win at Anderlecht, Brendan Rodgers’ side have put themselves in contention. The Hoops have become increasingly impressive under the Ulsterman’s stewardship, encapsulated by that 3-0 win in Belgium.

No one is expecting anything but a defeat in Bavaria, but it’s not impossible Celtic can get something. Bayern have struggled this season in comparison to the last few years.

Carlo Ancelotti was sacked in late September with the Bundesliga giants trailing Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim.

The Glaswegians are obviously huge underdogs but bagging a point on the Double Chance at 13/2 isn’t unthinkable.

Man United in pole position in Lisbon

With two wins from their first two group games, United are already in an incredibly strong position.

With six points from two games, Jose Mourinho’s men could practically seal qualification already with a win against Benfica. In reality, it would also rule the Lisbon giants out of the knockout stages.

Rui Vitoria’s side are bottom of the group after two defeats in their opening couple of games. The last thing Águias will want is a Jose Mourinho team rolling up at Estadio da Luz.

The Red Devils are 4/5 to win.

Chelsea welcome Romans to the gates of Stamford Bridge

Antonio Conte clashes with his compatriots in London as Roma rock up for a big Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge.

A win for either side will go a long way to deciding who wins this group. Should the Blues bag the three points, it will put them five points clear at the summit.

Alvaro Morata’s fitness is vital. The West London side looked poor in his absence as they suffered a shock defeat to Crystal Palace.

The former Real Madrid striker makes the Chelsea attack tick. If he fails to make it, an impressive Roma side could be dangerous at 17/4.
