Betting preview and odds for the Championship
Another crucial round of midweek Championship fixtures is on the agenda tonight, as Nottingham Forest host Aston Villa and Norwich City welcome Hull City to Carrow Road.
Those two match-ups are the pick of the ties, five of which make up tonight’s Championship Betting Tips.
Derby County v Stoke City
Frank Lampard’s Derby are back in the groove following a four-match losing sequence. The Rams are now two unbeaten and look a solid shout for a Championship play-off spot at 2/1.
They’ve only lost twice at Pride Park in the league this season. But the Potters have proved a tough nut to crack since the appointment of Nathan Jones, having drawn four of their last five matches.
The Coral traders have the draw at 2/1, while two sides that have tightened their respective backlines in recent weeks are 8/15 to share Under 2.5 Goals. Harry Wilson netted in the Potteries in November and is 14/5 to oblige again here.
Middlesbrough v Preston North End
Only eight of Middlesbrough’s 35 league matches this season have contained three or more goals. Two of those came in the opening week of the campaign. Under 2.5 Goals is a 4/7 shot tonight.
While Boro may prove tough to breakdown they’ve found positive results at the Riverside extremely difficult to come by. Just three wins at home since mid-September is testament to that.
Norwich City v Hull City
Hull’s impressive form over Christmas is a thing of the past. Although the Tigers are still prolific at the KCOM Stadium, they’ve lost their last four on the road and conceded 13 goals in the process.
Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa
Aston Villa may be on a high after their derby day victory over Birmingham City, but a trip to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest represents another tough test.
Martin O’Neill’s side have won four-in-a-row by the Trent as they ramp up their play-off bid. Joe Lolley’s form has been crucial in that run. The midfielder has netted twice and he’s 5/2 to bag tonight.
West Bromwich Albion v Swansea City
The Baggies may be without a manager, but they should have enough going forward to dispose of a Swansea side who suffer from severe travel sickness.
Graham Potter’s men have lost their last four away from the Liberty and are 10/11 to fall to another defeat at the Hawthorns. Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez are 13/10 apiece to score, with Jacob Murphy slightly longer at 5/2.
