4/1 Birmingham City value to gain a result at goal-shy Leicester

Three successive wins have boosted Birmingham City free of the grasping tentacles of the Championship relegation, with Lee Clarke’s men scoring eight and conceding one on that run. They’ve since gone two games without a win, but at 4/1 they’re well worth chancing for a win at the King Power Stadium.

City’s wins to-nil against Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace were achieved against two of the division’s more wayward sides. Boro have won just twice in 14 games since the turn of the year, whilst the Eagles were in the midst of a run that has seen them go four games without a single goal when they were smashed 4-0 by Birmingham at Selhurst Park.

Nonetheless the restorative powers of those successes on Birmingham’s psyche cannot be underestimated and but for the 45 minutes of Keystone Cops defending that allowed Wolves three goals at St Andrews they’d be unbeaten in six outings.

The goals that fuelled Leicester’s achievements earlier in the season have dried up worryingly over the last month and it’s now eight games since the Foxes last posted more than a single goal in a match. This miserable scoring run has contributed to a sequence of one win in 13 games in all competitions.

Birmingham have comforting knack of giving their away followers something to get excited about, scoring in all but two of their road games this term and registering two goals or more in four of their last six. If their hosts don’t rediscover their scoring knack it’s going to be hard for them to grab the three points here.

Seven of the last nine Leicester matches have contained less than 2.5 goals, with the two blots on that trend containing three goals suggesting that if the visitors are to nick the points it will be in narrow fashion. Under 2.5 goals in the fixture can be backed at 4/5 whilst, 1-0 Birmingham and 2-0 Birmingham are available at 14/1 and 33/1 with Coral respectively.

In a Championship based entirely on away performances City would be sitting pretty in the final play off berth. The Blues can be backed at 23/20 in the double chance market at Coral.
