Coral’s Championship released XI: Beckford, Eagles, Mills and more

With the regular Championship season over, a number of familiar faces have been released because their contracts have ended. Coral’s football experts have got their heads together and come up with this awesome XI of players looking for new clubs this summer.

Goalkeeper: Andy Lonergan
Soccer - FA Cup - Fourth Round - Replay - Bolton Wanderers v Liverpool - Macron Stadium

Bolton Wanderers goalie Lonergan played in an FA Cup replay against Premier League team Liverpool earlier this season, but has been let go as Neil Lennon looks to rebuild the Lancashire outfit.

Right back: Carlos Edwards
Soccer - Sky Bet Championship - Fulham v Millwall - Craven Cottage

Trinidad and Tobago right-sided player Edwards could not help Millwall avoid relegation to League One, so must seek new pastures along with 15 others.

Centre back: Oguchi Onyewu
Soccer - Sky Bet Championship - Charlton Athletic v Cardiff City - The Valley

Mid-table team Charlton Athletic have released a number of players too, including 69 times capped USA international Onyewu.

Centre back: Matt Mills
Soccer - Sky Bet Championship - Bolton Wanderers v Blackpool - Macron Stadium

Pictured in the main image with former Trotters teammate Chris Eagles, Mills must move on from Bolton with old boss Dougie Freedman already denying he wants to bring him to Nottingham Forest.

Left back: Ian Harte
Soccer - Capital One Cup - Fourth Round - AFC Bournemouth v West Bromwich Albion - Goldsands Stadium

Premier League newcomers Bournemouth (evens to stay up next season) are letting Irish veteran Harte go, although he has largely acted as backup to the younger legs of Charlie Daniels at Dean Court.

Right wing: Chris Eagles
Soccer - Sky Bet Championship - Birmingham City v Charlton Athletic - St Andrew's

Winger Eagles exits Charlton following a short-term contract. His creative spark is still there, and the Manchester United academy product may be in-demand like ex-Wanderers teammate Mills.

Central midfield: Keith Andrews
Soccer - Sky Bet League One - Bradford City v MK Dons - Coral Windows Stadium

Former Republic of Ireland midfielder Andrews spent the end of the campaign on loan at old side MK Dons, having earlier spent time at Watford. Like Mills and Lonergan, he’s leaving Bolton amid a summer of change.

Central midfield: Rodolph Austin
Soccer - Sky Bet Championship - Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds United - Hillsborough

Jamaica international Austin will have two shop windows to put himself in this summer after being named in their Copa America squad with the CONCACAF Gold Cup to follow. Leeds United have let him go, but the big bruiser will surely find other suitors either in Britain or the MLS.

Left wing: Jamie Ward
Soccer - UEFA Euro 2016 - Qualifying - Group F - Greece v Northern Ireland - Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis

Northern Ireland forward Ward has been deemed surplus to requirements by late season flops Derby County, who went from top to eighth in the space of a dozen fames. East Midlands rivals Forest have already been linked with snapping him up.

Striker: Jon Stead
Soccer - FA Cup - Third Round - Replay - Bradford City v Millwall - Valley Parade

Huddersfield Town-owned frontman Stead wrote himself into FA Cup folklore on loan at West Yorkshire rivals Bradford City this season, helping them to a famous win at Chelsea. Will the Bantams sign him permanently? Only time will tell!

Striker: Jermaine Beckford
Soccer - Skybet League 1 Play off- 2nd Leg - Preston North End v Chesterfield - Deepdale

Preston North End’s on-loan poacher Beckford has fired Simon Grayson’s side to the cusp of promotion from League One, but has no future at Bolton. If he can get the Deepdale outfit up (odds-on at 4/6), then surely some permanent arrangement shall follow.
