Daily Acca Tips: Getafe, Celtic and Bordeaux amongst the picks
Top football from Scotland, Spain and more
The European football action comes thick and fast this Saturday. It’s the final day in La Liga and Ligue 1, whilst there’s also the matter of a Scottish Cup Final – and a potential Celtic treble.
The Coral News Team have compiled their tips on Saturday’s action, including all that – and a quick trip to MLS. Here’s who made the cut…
Victory for Getafe would secure a hugely impressive top-eight finish in La Liga. And their success has largely been down to a fine away record. Jose Bordalas’ men have won four of the last five on their travels, including victory at Valencia.
Saturday sees Azulones visit basement-dwelling Malaga, whose relegation was confirmed some weeks back. The relegated hosts have lost six of their last seven games, including a 3-0 defeat to Deportivo Alaves in their last home fixture.
Talking of already-relegated sides, Bordeaux also visit one of them on Saturday in the form of Metz. Les Girondins have dominated the recent head-to-heads. They’ve won each of the last three meetings, scoring eight times and conceding zero.
Bordeaux are looking to end the season on a high, having won five of their last six games. That’s included 3-1 triumphs at Montpellier and Saint-Etienne. With Metz winless in seven at StaDe Saint-Symphorien, this should be straightforward for the visitors.
The Hoops are eyeing up a second successive domestic treble on Saturday, and should prove too strong for opponents Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final.
Brendan Rodgers’ men have won eight of the last 10 head-to-heads, drawing two. Celtic not only have the better squad, but also more mettle on the big stage. The pair faced off in February’s League Cup final, with the Hoops breezing to a 2-0 win.
Patrick Vieira’s men sit third in MLS’ Eastern Conference, having won their last four games at Yankee Stadium – including a 4-0 rout of Real Salt Lake. By contrast, visitors Colorado Rapids are amongst the worst in the Western Conference.
They’re currently second-bottom in the standings, and have lost four matches on the spin. Factor in the 5-1 victory for City last time the Rapids visited Yankee Stadium, and a home win here looks a sure thing.
Paco Lopez’s Levante are ending this La Liga campaign on a real high. Sunday’s incredible 5-4 defeat of Barcelona not only ended the Catalan club’s 13-month unbeaten league run, but extended Granotas’ winning run to five games.
Their season-closer comes away to a Celta Vigo side who haven’t won in six, and succumbed to a 6-0 mauling by Real Madrid last time out.
