England now just 5/2 for World Cup glory

Three Lions second-favourites to go all the way

England odds to win the World Cup this summer have been cut to 5/2 following their quarter-final victory over Sweden.

Goals from Harry Maguire and Dele Alli secured England’s place in the semi-finals.

Gareth Southgate’s side will now fancy their chances of ending the nation’s 52-year wait for an international trophy. They’ll face either Russia or Croatia for a spot in the final.

They’re currently only behind France (2/1) in the betting, with Belgium at 11/4 in third. France and Belgium face each other on Tuesday.

“England were odds-on favourites to beat Sweden so their victory was a great result for patriotic punters, although this afternoon’s payout will be nothing compared to the tens of millions the bookies will have to pay out if the Three Lions can end 52 years of hurt next Sunday,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

World Cup outright

2/1 France, 5/2 England, 11/4 Belgium, 11/2 Croatia, 20/1 Russia
