Europa League tips: Chelsea, Villarreal and Rangers amongst the picks

Dave Burin | 4 October 2018

Tips and preview of the day’s big games

There’s another big night of continental action, with the Europa League back for matchday two. And the Coral News Team have a Big Match Breakdown on Arsenal’s trip to Qarabag here.

But there are plenty more top UEL clashes, including big games for Chelsea and Rangers. And the team have rounded up their top tips below…

Chelsea v MOL Vidi

The Blues are no strangers to battering European minnows. They thumped Qarabag 6-0 and 4-0 in last season’s Champions League group stage, and could inflict similar misery on Hungarian outfit MOL Vidi (formerly Videoton).

Chelsea have already won four home games in 2018 by a margin of three or more goals. They’re 3/4 in the -2 handicap here, while a 5-0 victory for the Blues is a 10/1 shot.

Eden Hazard has been in scintillating form for the West London club. He’s 8/15 to net Anytime, while Coral make it 7/4 for the Belgian to bag Two or More Goals.

Rangers v Rapid Wien

It’s been a strange season for Steven Gerrard’s side. They’ve struggled domestically, but have looked excellent in the Europa League.

Rangers knocked Maribor and FC Ufa out in the qualifying rounds, before notching an impressive 2-2 draw at Villarreal in their Group Stage opener. And they should be too strong for a Rapid side who’ve won just two of their last seven matches.

Victory for the Gers is an even-money shot, while it’s 29/10 for Rangers to Win and Both Teams to Score.

Having racked up five goals already this term, lively full-back James Tavernier is priced up at 10/3 to Score Anytime.

Spartak Moscow v Villarreal

The Yellow Submarine are excellent on their travels, sailing to two wins and a draw in their three away days so far. And they face a Spartak side who’ve scored just three times in their last six games – winning once.

The visitors should prove too strong here. Victory for Villarreal is a 29/20 shot, while Javier Calleja’s side are 16/5 to Win to Nil.

Colombian ace Carlos Bacca has started the season well for the Spanish side, and he’s 15/8 to find the net again. Meanwhile, it’s odds of 11/1 for a 2-0 Villarreal triumph at the Otkrytiye Arena.

Eintracht Frankfurt v Lazio

Everything points to a high-scoring affair here. All of Frankfurt’s last six games have seen both sides register, as have each of Lazio’s previous four fixtures.

It’s 4/6 for Both Teams to Score. However, with the Bundesliga side’s last two games producing a combined nine goals, this could be a real goalfest. Coral make it 21/10 for Over 3.5 Goals.

Simone Inzaghi’s men have won five of their last six fixtures, and Lazio to Win and BTTS is 17/4 here. Meanwhile, a 3-1 victory for the Italians is a 22/1 shot.
