Everton eye win over Young Boys in Europa League last 32

Everton know their best chance of winning silverware this season is in the Europa League and, prior to the Champions League contingent dropping into the competition, they were third favourites at 14/1 with Coral to be victorious.

The Toffees are 5/4 favourites to beat Swiss side Young Boys in the last 32 of the competition, and Leon Osman insists the side are fully prepared.

Although he won’t travel to Switzerland, because he is still recovering from an ankle injury, he has been doing light training and has seen how the squad have been preparing.

“It’s important for us, the Europa League. We’ve now got into the knockout stages of this competition, so we certainly want to have a go at winning it,” he said.

“This is our first two-legged affair, good old fashioned European knockout football and we’re confident we can do well.

“We’ve got to go to a good Young Boys team on a different pitch to the ones we’re used to and that will be a test in itself, but hopefully over the two legs we’ve got enough to beat them.”

Attacker Kevin Mirallas is the Toffees’ leading marksman in the competition this term, though only just, with two goals, and is a respectable 9/4 anytime chance. However, Everton do have eight different scorers, each with one strike, although Samuel Eto’o has now left the club.

Romelu Lukaku has been impressive since the start of the year, with some bright performances for the Merseyside team, as well as three goals for an outfit that has struggled to create chances in the Premier League. He is 5/1 to break the deadlock, while strike partner Steven Naismith is 2/1 anytime.

Leighton Baines is always a threat from a dead-ball situation, and having dispatched already in the competition 11/2 chance in the same market.

For the hosts, their best hope of scoring could come from centre forward Guillaume Hoarau, who has five goals in six in the Europa League so far this campaign, and is a great price at 2/1 to net anytime. Strike partner Yuya Kubo could also be in the frame, after dispatching twice so far, and is 11/4 in the same market.
