Gunners hunting win over Foxes
Mark Premier League return with a profit
Friday 11th August, a date marked on the calendar of football fans since spring. Arsenal welcome Leicester to the Emirates this evening to bring the curtain up on a brand new English Premier League season – one that promises to be as gripping as ever.
Sky Sports bring us every kick, tackle and early Wenger Out call live from 7.45pm, and you can bet on well over 160 markets in the match right here at Coral. As well as the markets you love – match winner, first goal scorer, correct score – our traders have put together a list of special bets to help you mark the occasion. Will Jamie Vardy score? We’ve enhanced the price to 11/4.
Wenger believes he’s the man for the job
Not many football fans would’ve expected to see Arsene Wenger lead out Arsenal on the first game of the new season, but the determined Frenchman remains in charge, and promised fans he’s the man to bring success back to the club. That remains to be seen, but he’ll be eager to go top on day one with a convincing win over 2015/16 Premier League champions Leicester.
Wenger has worked hard over the summer break to improve a side who were bitterly disappointing last season, and looks set to hand debuts to Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac. The latter got off to a fantastic start, scoring in that Community Shield win over Chelsea at Wembley last weekend. The Bosnian left-back is 9/2 to hit the net anytime during tonight’s match, while French striker Lacazette goes 14/5 favourite to score first, or 4/6 anytime.
Arsenal red-hot favourites for the win
Alexis Sanchez remains an Arsenal player, but the Chilean shouldn’t be at the club for too much longer. He was left out of the Community Shield squad and watches this one from the stands, a mystery abdominal strain blamed for his absence. He’s joined on the sick list by Mertesacker, Ozil and Ramsey, while Koscielny serves a ban.
Arsenal to start the season with a win has been chalked up as 8/15 favourite at Coral, and that’ll go in a fair share of Friday football multiples. If The Gunners, and indeed Wenger, want to fire a warning shot to the rest of the division on Friday, they must win well. Back them -1 on the handicap at 11/8.
History is dead against an away day
Leicester fans had very little to shout about domestically last season, and failed to score a single goal in two matches vs Arsenal, drawing 0-0 at the King Power and losing 1-0 at this venue back in April. Robert Huth netted an own-goal that day, and clicking no in the both teams to score coupon is sure to give you a run for your money at 23/20.
It has been 44 years since The Foxes last won away to Arsenal, and our traders have kept that in mind when pricing this match. There’s 5/1 available on the upset, or 4/7 Leicester with a two-goal head-start on the handicap. Jamie Vardy to score anytime has been enhanced from 13/5 to 11/4.
