Stylish Swindon have Coventry’s number, so back an away win

Swindon Town have beaten Coventry City away 2-1 in each of the last two seasons, so Coral make Mark Cooper’s men 7/5 favourites for victory again and 17/2 chances to record that exact result.

Steven Pressley’s Sky Blues (2/1) sit just four points above the drop zone, while the visitors are three from the League One summit. These two teams drew in the reverse fixture back in August, and it’s 11/5 on that happening again on Monday evening.

Leading marksman Andy Williams is in red hot form for Town, with six in his last five appearances. He has also scored at the Ricoh before, so odds of 6/5 say he can keep this purple patch going anytime. Williams, who has 15 for the season, is also a 9/2 chance to grab the opener.

Swindon strike partner Michael Smith has a dozen across all competitions, and can be backed in those markets at the same price. Cooper is without Australia midfielder Massimo Luongo, who is representing the Socceroos at the Asian Cup on home soil.

It’s an ensemble cast responsible for keeping Coventry away from immediate third-tier danger, with set-piece threat Reda Johnson their top scorer with five. He is a 6/1 shot to score here anytime.

Pressley must pick from a four-strong striking roster, including new permanent signing Frank Nouble. The much-travelled target man is now at the Ricoh for keeper, and 2/1 to add to his three goals on loan with the Sky Blues here.

Marcus Tudgay is another striker with journeyman status, and netted last time out as Coventry defeated Walsall away. It’s 11/4 he nets anytime. Canada international Simeon Jackson should be lethal at this level, and is also 2/1 to be on target against Swindon.

Jim O’Brien, a former Barnsley winger, has chipped in with key goals from the wing, and is worth considering in the anytime market at 11/2. Getting the right blend is difficult, though, and that is why a settled Swindon side look likely to win.
