Napoli hold two-goal Europa League advantage over Dinamo Moscow

Napoli take a 3-1 lead to Russia for the second leg of the Europa League 16, and Rafael Benitez will hope that is enough to overturn Dynamo Moscow.

The Italian outfit are 11/8 with Coral to win in 90 minutes, though birthday boy, and no doubt by his own admission, golden boy, Aleksandr Kokorin will be doing all he can to ensure his side overturn their deficit, and is 7/4 to net anytime.

It was Kevin Kuranyi, though, who notched the away goal in Italy to give the Russian side hope, is also 7/4 in the same market. However, it only took the Brazilian-born ex-Germany attacker two minutes to get on the scoresheet in the first leg, and for another explosive start, he is 6/1 to break the deadlock once more in front of home fans.

Gonzalo Higuain was outstanding, hitting a hat-trick, as he almost single-handed inspired a comeback, which is why the Argentina striker, who has now scored six goals in the competition, is 5/4 to notch anytime, and 7/1 to net two or more.

Napoli are still on course to win a cup double this season, though their form in Serie A has been uncharacteristic recently. They have won just one in five, and Benitez was particularly frustrated by the recent 2-0 defeat to Verona, which saw them drop out of the top three.

“I was cross because I don’t like to lose and I especially don’t like to lose in this way,” said the Spaniard after the match.

“We had the wrong approach from the start. We began badly, we conceded a goal and, in the second half, we continued to make mistakes and paid the price. I certainly expected a different game.

“Last season this team set a record of 10 away wins so I expected the same this season. We need to try to find some continuity,” Benitez continued.

“Perhaps we are lacking the maturity to battle on three fronts. We will need to work harder in order to improve in our next games.”

If the hosts are to stage a comeback, they will have to do so without Roman Zobnin, who was dismissed in the first leg, though in terms of goalscoring threats, they have Aleksei Ionov, 2/1 anytime, and former Chelsea player Yuri Zhirkov, 11/2 in the same market.

Ionov has three in the competition this season, while the Russian has notched twice. For Napoli, Marek Hamsik, who is also on two goals for the competition, will be looking to change that somewhat at 2/1 in the anytime market, while Colombian frontman Duvan Zapata, on the same tally, is 15/8.
