3 reasons why Hodgson can save Crystal Palace from relegation

Ex-Liverpool coach has Eagles flying

Crystal Palace moved out of the Premier League relegation zone last night with a 2-1 win over Watford.

Two late, late goals from Bakary Sako and James McArthur saw Palace come from behind to win all three points.

Roy Hodgson’s side are now unbeaten in their last six league games and look like they’re finally starting to click under the ex-England manager.

The Coral News Team reckon Hodgson will save the Eagles from relegation and here are 3 reasons why.

Underrated career

Due to failed spells with Liverpool and England, the general opinion in England is that Roy Hodgson isn’t a very good manager.

But those jobs might just have been too big for the 70-year-old. Hodgson has made a great career out of doing really well at smaller clubs.

His stint at Fulham between 2007 and 2010 was arguably his most successful in England. In his final season at Craven Cottage, he was awarded the LMA Manager of the Season.

Hodgson has also won titles in Sweden and Denmark, and was runner-up in the UEFA Cup with Inter Milan.

Organiser

Hodgson’s great ability seems to be his penchant for organising an untidy mess.

Frank de Boer was sacked within a handful of months of arriving at Selhurst Park. The Dutchman tried to ‘Ajax’ the Palace squad far too quickly and left a mess.

After a difficult start, Hodgson has quickly galvanised the South London outfit and got the players playing to their strengths.

They have gone back to a traditional 4-4-2 using Wilfried Zaha’s superior dribbling skills behind Christian Benteke to great effect.

Talented squad

It’s undeniable that Crystal Palace have a very fine set of players at the club’s disposal.

Hodgson has the likes of Benteke, Zaha, Yohan Cabaye, Andros Townsend, and Mamadou Sakho to call upon.

Ex-Aston Villa striker Benteke has yet to really fire this term. His penalty miss against Bournemouth at 2-2 summed up his season to date.

However, the Belgium international is still a top striker and has the players around him to score at least 10 between now and May.

Hodgson’s Palace are a value pick to stave off relegation by the end of the season.
