Alexis Sanchez key to Arsenal ending poor record against Man City

Arsenal, 10/3 with Coral to take all three points at the Etihad, are aiming to end a dreadful run of just two wins in their last 10 match-ups with champions Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger, however, believes: “History will not play a big part in this game. It’s the performance of the day that will play the biggest part and the only important part.

“I believe we have consistency. Last year, we did not win the championship only for that reason. We did not perform in the top games away from home… I think we are mature enough now to rectify it,” added the Gunners boss.

There may be validity in this statement, as the north London club have already managed to down their upcoming hosts this season, putting three past them in the Community Shield, and also split the spoils with the Sky Blues at the Etihad.

Arsenal do, also, have an ace up their sleeve in the form of Chile Superstar Alexis Sanchez, who has been involved in more Premier League goals this season than any other player.

Sensational Sanchez bagged a brilliant brace as the Gunners smashed Stoke City 3-0 last time out to make it four wins from their last five games across all competitions.

Sanchez’s talents will certainly be put to the test as City hope to welcome back captain and star centre back Vincent Kompany to the starting XI. But the former Barcelona attacker is a superb 6/1 shout to score first or 7/4 to net anytime after grabbing three goals in his past two games.

France frontman Olivier Giroud is also available at 2/1 in the anytime market, whilst Spanish schemer Santi Cazorla, who has shown an eye for goal this term, is 12/1 to net last.

Battles between the Citizens and Gunners are usually high scoring affairs full of thrills, so back goals galore with these two teams at 9/1 to be on target in both halves.

Three of the last six duels between these Premier League giants have ended in score draws, meaning generous odds of 14/5 for this clash to end on even terms again are great value.

City are, however, odds-on favourites at 5/6 to triumph on home turf after winning six of their last seven outings at the Etihad.

Two draws in their past four games across all competitions, plus a close call against Sunderland, will be concerning for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, who have fallen behind Chelsea in the title race once again.

However, the Sky Blues are expecting to welcome back star striker Sergio Aguero, who will vie with Sanchez for top billing.

Incredible Aguero has found the net twice in his last two encounters with Arsenal, and is 7/2 to announce his return from injury emphatically by bagging a brace or better.

Edin Dzeko, meanwhile, is 6/1 to score last and impress before new signing Wilfried Bony returns from the Africa Cup of Nations to threaten his place.

City, who thrashed Arsenal 6-3 in an unpredictable and unforgettable game at the Etihad last term, are 6/1 to utilise their impressive firepower and put four or more past their visitors again.
