Back Arsenal to bounce back with victory over Chelsea

Only Man City have taken more points from top-half teams than Arsenal and the Gunners should be backed at 13/10 to beat Chelsea on Monday.

Arsene Wenger’s side were schooled by Man City at Eastlands in their most recent match, however the north-west side are unbelievably good on their own patch.

Wenger played down that game after the match, saying: “We have played Everton and Southampton and they are as good as [Man] City.”

That’s obviously a ridiculous thing to say, however the Frenchman will be under no illusions that Monday’s game is a crucial one in the context of their season.

But they have raised their game for the big matches, especially at the Emirates.

Bet on Arsenal to beat Chelsea at 13/10

Arsenal have won three and drawn one of their four home matches against top-half teams, a record which includes victories over Tottenham (1-0) and Liverpool (2-0).

Much has been made of their defeats at Napoli and Man City but they had qualification almost assured before their Champions League defeat and are also the first away team this year to score more than one goal in the Premier League at Eastlands.

The Gunners will be without Jack Wilshire after he received a two match ban for a rude hand gesture aimed at the home fans during the Man City match.

However Arsenal have looked more dangerous when Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla have both played, and, with Theo Walcott likely to start after returning from injury with two goals, Wenger’s team looks very strong.

Olivier Giroud may not have scored with the same regularity as earlier in the year but the Frenchman has scored six goals in all competitions at the Emirates this season.

He is 7/1 to score first whilst striking rival Fernando Torres is the same price.

Bet on Frank Lampard to score anytime at 10/3

The Spaniard notched the first goal in this fixture last season and has been in good form this season, however the better Chelsea goalscorer bet is Frank Lampard.

Jose Mourinho’s favourite may be reaching the end of his career but the dynamic midfielder has four goals to his name already this season and is 10/3 to score at anytime.

Although not as regular a starter as in previous years, Lampard has started 16 games in all competitions this season and he loves this fixture.

He has scored in two of the last three games he has played against Arsenal.

Bet on Olivier Giroud to score first at 7/1

Punters willing to support Chelsea will cite their win in the Capital One Cup in October as proof that Arsenal are fallible at home.

However those were not the two clubs’ first teams.

Chelsea did win this fixture last season but this is a much different Arsenal side; there is certainly no Gervinho up-front this time around.
