Arsenal in pursuit of Premier League second place as Swansea visit

Arsenal are odds-on at 1/3 with Coral to beat Swansea City, as they look to ramp up their efforts to secure second place in the Premier League.

The Gunners haven’t lost domestically since the start of February, and have lost just twice since the start of the year, reaching the FA Cup final in the process.

Last time out, an Alexis Sanchez double and an Aaron Ramsey strike helped to secure a 3-1 win away at Hull City, and the pair are evens and 7/4 respectively to score anytime. If they fail to hit the net, Arsenal have a medley of outstanding attacking talent. Olivier Giroud is 4/1 to break the deadlock, while Danny Welbeck is 5/1 to do the same.

Chile sensation Sanchez also features in a Coral matchday special with enhanced odds of 11/2 to score two or more. Please note punters, there is a maximum stake of £20 on this bet.

Arsene Wenger’s men haven’t beaten Swansea in two attempts though; something that the Gunners boss will be hoping to change. Earlier in the season, the north London side lost 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium, as Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bafetimbi Gomis scored for the hosts. Both are 11/2 and 4/1 respectively to score anytime.

The south Wales club have won their last two, so will be hoping they can make life difficult for the Gunners at the Emirates, having earned a 2-2 draw there the previous season. Nelson Oliveira scored in Swnasea’s last away win, which wasa 3-2 victory over Newcastle, and is 4/1 in the anytime market.

Wenger, though, who will have to settle for second place in the Premier League at best, and despite his rivalry with Jose Mourinho, accepts Chelsea haven’t had any real blip in the title race.

“The problem we had this season is Chelsea had no real blip,” he said. “They [have] lost only two games. In a normal championship I think we would have come back into the race. Chelsea lost only two games and in games like when they won at Hull and QPR, they were not at their best but could still manage a win. These are the kind of wins you have when you smell you are close to winning it.”
