Atletico and Real Madrid to pick up three points in La Liga

Matt Haynes | December 12, 2015

Atletico Madrid v Athletic Bilbao

  • Sunday, December 13th
  • Kick-off: 17:15 GMT

Atleti to continue winning streak

Atletico Madrid go into this clash in fine form after winning their last seven matches across all competitions, so their odds-on price of 4/7 with Coral to win are more than justified.

Goal machine Antoine Griezmann is in a prolific streak at the minute, having hit 11 goals in 20 matches across all competitions this season and will look to keep that going over the next couple of La Liga matches before the Christmas break. He is, therefore good value at 7/2 to break the deadlock, having also scored the only goal in Atleti’s last home match.

Their visitors are also currently in a good run of form having gone five matches unbeaten across all competitions. Striker Aritz Aduriz hit a hat-trick last time in the league and is good value at 15/8 to net again anytime, while Enrique Sola dispatched in their Europa League clash in midweek and is 3/1 in the same market.

Villarreal v Real Madrid

Real going for sixth straight win

Los Blancos are well-fancied at an odds-on 4/6 price for the three points as they travel to Villarreal in a fixture they recorded a 2-1 win in last season.

Real have won their last five matches across all competitions and Karim Benzema bagged a brace in the side’s last league match and is 7/1 to score two or more.

Last time out, they were 8-0 winners against Malmo in the Champions League, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring four. The forward is 14/5 to break the deadlock, while Luka Modric who struck in this clash last term is 6/1 anytime.

Despite coming under criticism lately, coach Rafa Benitez has received the backing of former Real stalwart Fernando Hierro recently: “[Rafa] Benitez is a coach with a lot of experience, he has shown his worth in the English and Italian leagues and knows our club very well having coached the youth sides,” Hierro said. “He has everything necessary to deal with this challenge.”

The Yellow Submarines have just one win in their last four across all competitions, coming in their last home match, with Cedric Bakambu bagging a brace. He is 2/1 to score anytime while fellow forward Roberto Soldado is 2/1 in the same market.
