Coral rumour reel: Arsenal target Gabriel Paulista purchase and more
Arsenal, 13/8 chances with Coral to finish outside the top four, are in talks with the agent of Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista about signing the Brazilian centre back, according to reports.
Uncapped Paulista, 24, claims his representative has held discussions with the Gunners about a winter window switch to the Emirates. The Yellow Submarine are thought to be keen on taking Costa Rica forward Joel Campbell on loan, so Arsene Wenger could use that to sweeten this potential deal that would strengthen his defence.
In other top four news, 5/1 chances Liverpool have pulled out of a deal to bring Belgium attacker Divock Origi back to Anfield from a loan spell at old club Lille early. Despite his striker woes, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will work with what he’s got on the books.
Liverpool have also emerged as favourites to land talented teenage Ipswich Town midfielder Teddy Bishop from the Tractor Boys. Mick McCarthy may lose the 18-year-old if he fails to steer the Suffolk side to Championship promotion (7/4).
Swansea City, long shots at 20/1 for a top six finish, could lose French target man Bafetimbi Gomis, after giving a TV interview in his homeland that raised doubts about his future.
Elsewhere at the Liberty Stadium, Swans manager Garry Monk will react to the 5-0 thrashing his side received at the hands of Premier League leaders Chelsea by bidding £4m for Norwich City and Sweden left back Martin Olsson.
This move may also be motivated by 9/2 relegation chances Crystal Palace‘s interest in current first-choice defender Neil Taylor. Eagles boss Alan Pardrew is also reportedly close to completing a £4m swoop to bring Blackburn Rovers top scorer Rudy Gestede to Selhurst Park.
And finally, West Bromwich Albion are chasing Wigan Athletic winger Callum McManaman. Baggies boss Tony Pulis has reportedly tabled a £4m bid for the ex-England Under-21 international, but the Latics value him at £6m.
