Coral rumour reel: Man Utd open to £30m Marquinhos move and more

Manchester United, odds-on at 4/9 with Coral for a top four finish this term, will begin talks with Ligue 1 champions PSG over the £30m capture of bruising Brazil defender Marquinhos, according to tabloid reports

The 20-year-old is behind compatriots David Luiz and Thiago Silva in the Parc des Princes pecking order under ex-Red Devils centre back Laurent Blanc.

In other Old Trafford news, Serie A club Palermo say they have rejected apparent interest from Louis van Gaal in top scorer Paulo Dybala. The Argentine striker, 21, is rated in excess of £30m.

United’s top four rivals Arsenal (also 4/9), meanwhile, are reportedly ready to solve their defensive woes by launching a mega £63m double bid for Borussia Dortmund pair Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan.

Both Germany internationals are also on Van Gaal’s radar, but it is Gunners boss Arsene Wenger that is experiencing a real paucity of options at centre back and in holding midfield.

Domestic woes for Jurgen Klopp, with Dortmund battling Bundesliga relegation despite decent Champions League form, may see the Wesfalenstadion outfit cash in on their star performers like World Cup winner Hummels and Gundogan, who is back after 18 months out with a spinal fracture.

Arsenal are also rumoured to be preparing a £12m move for Palermo goalkeeper Mattia Perrin, 22, who is one of the backup stoppers behind Italy national captain Gianluigi Buffon.

North London neighbours Tottenham, 5/1 to crash the top four, will not allow Wenger and the Gunners to get a clear run on in-demand West Ham United defender Winston Reid.

The New Zealand international, 26, is out of contract across the capital at Upton Park this summer, and his steady, consistent displays under Sam Allardyce have attracted a number of top club.

In other Hammers news, Liverpool (also 5/1 for a top four finish) are looking to scupper Big Sam’s chances of making on-loan midfielder Alex Song’s move permanent.

West Ham want to land the ex-Arsenal and Cameroon player, 27, from Barcelona this summer as Reds boss Brendan Rodgers looks to replace Kop idol Steven Gerrard.

And finally, the Anfield outfit are looking at Australia international and Club Brugge stopper Mat Ryan to solve their goalkeeping problems. Summer signing Simon Mignolet has failed to impress on Merseyside since switching from Sunderland, while Brad Jones, Ryan’s fellow Aussie, has also struggled.
