Coral’s five destinations for Schalke starlet Julian Draxler

Long tipped to be the next German superstar, versatile Schalke sensation Julian Draxler could finally be set for a move away from the Royal Blues to pastures new in the Premier League.

Reports suggest the talented 21-year-old is on champions Manchester City’s rarefied radar, so we speculate where else daring dangerman Draxler could find a new home.

Arsenal
The Gunners apparently came ever so close to snapping up Schalke academy product Draxler in summer, but the move never materialised, with the Royal Blues rumoured to have stalled on a deal.

Arsene Wenger may be well stocked in the attacking midfield department, but that’s never stopped the Frenchman building for the future before, plus Lucas Podolski’s impending exit could open up a space in offence.

Arsenal, who were believed to be willing to pay the mooted £37m release clause, could certainly come back in for the Germany wingman and were supposedly planning to convert Draxler into a striker.

Bayern Munich
Bayern, 13/5 favourites to lift the Champions League, have a history of hoovering up the brightest Bundesliga-based talents, as seen by the recent purchases of Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski from bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Pep Guardiola supposedly has his eye on magnificent wingman Marco Reus, but if the Dortmund lynchpin proves too difficult to acquire, may well turn his attentions to young gun Draxler instead.

The Bavarian giants will need to replace the ageing Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben at some point and would surely not want to see a top Die Mannschaft talent leave Germany for the Premier League.

Chelsea
Draxler dazzled against Jose Mourinho’s men at Stamford Bridge earlier this season, taking on the responsibility of being Schalke’s main attacking threat against the Blues boys.

His power, pace and quick feet will undoubtedly have made an impression on the ‘Special One’ who could mould the potential superstar into a much more effective player, just as he has with Eden Hazard.

Any move would likely have to wait until summer, however, when Chelsea may look to upgrade squad options Mohamed Salah and Andre Schurrle.

Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers’ Reds are in dire need of potency up top and, despite being far from the finished product, Draxler has illustrated he has the potential to be a lethal predator in future.

Liverpool, 13/2 for a top four finish, need a big boost in the transfer market and should learn lessons from their last splurge by spending on quality instead of quantity.

With Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini expected to exit Anfield sooner rather than later, a direct attacking option to combine with Raheem Sterling should be one of their top priorities, with Draxler providing much of what they currently lack.

Manchester City
Tabloids are speculating that the Citizens have placed Draxler on their shopping list after learning of Royal Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo interest in out-of-favour defender Matija Nastasic.

Manuel Pellegrini is said to be interested in negotiating a first option on the 14-capped Germany wideman or using Nastasic in player-plus-cash swap deal.

Draxler would be an excellent buy for the Sky Blues, providing competition for the likes of often inconsistent performers Samir Nasri and Jesus Navas. City are 7/4 to retain the Premier League title.
