Coral’s five sensational striker suggestions for Spurs
Tottenham, 5/1 with Coral for a top four Premier League finish next season, have yet to make a significant splash in the transfer market this summer. There have been calls for more cover up front to ease the burden on Harry Kane, with the frontman featuring at the Under-21 championship this summer with England.
As a result, we suggest five potential strikers who Spurs could bring into White Hart Lane, with both Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor heavily tipped to leave.
The QPR striker has still to resolve his future this summer and a number of clubs are said to be circling. He would be a more than capable backup for Kane and there is no reason why the duo couldn’t operate together in attack, should Spurs opt to change tack in games.
Currently impressing at the Under-21 championship with Germany, the 22-year-old could be tempted by a move abroad this summer. Having seen his Hoffenheim teammate, Roberto Firmino earlier this summer, Volland is likely to command a smaller fee, which could spur chairman Daniel Levy into action.
The Belgian secured a £27m move to Everton last summer, though may be a better fit at Tottenham, if manager Mauricio Pochettino sees fit. He was lacking significant service last term, though with Christian Eriksen plus compatriot Nacer Chadli teeing him up, Lukaku may excel.
Deemed surplus to requirements at Liverpool and, if Adebayor and Soldado both leave, Lambert could offer experience as well as strength in depth. If he is one of three strikers, there wouldn’t be as much pressure on him to deliver, plus he will link up with former boss Pochettino, who knows how to get the best out of him.
Jose Salomon Rondon
Also linked with Liverpool, the Zenit St Petersburg striker who has impressed at the Copa America, could be one option worth considering. With an eye for goal and pace to burn, he is similar in style to former Spurs sensation Jermain Defoe, who became a hero at the club.
