Coral’s rumour reel: Could Pedro be catalyst for Moses move?
This morning, the gossip starts in London, with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho telling press how swiftly Pedro Rodriguez’s capture from Barcelona materialised.
“For me, it was one minute; ‘Did you sign already for another club?’ ‘Almost, but not yet.’ ‘Do you want to come here?’ ‘Yes, I want.’
“I told people in the club ‘it’s over to you’. I thought he would never leave Barcelona,” added the Portuguese.
Capital competitors Tottenham (9/1 with Coral for a top four finish) are now reportedly keen to capitalise on Pedro’s Stamford Bridge switch, with Spurs hoping the Blues will now allow them to buy back-up winger Victor Moses, who spent last season on loan at Stoke City.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have apparently agreed a £45m deal for Real Madrid marksman Karim Benzema, with an announcement expected as early as next week. Yet, the saga threatens to rumble on, as rival reports suggest Los Blancos president Florentino Perez will not allow the France forward to leave.
Another coveted Madrid player who may not be prised from the Spanish giants this summer, is Asier Illarramendi, an apparent target for Liverpool, 5/4 to make the top four, as the midfielder is thought to be happy to stay and fight for his place.
Back in England, and the Reds’ Northwest neighbours Everton could complete a mooted £5.5m deal for defender Ramiro Funes Mori imminently, with the player potentially set for an unveiling before the Toffees’ tussle with Manchester City.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are the subject of a sensational transfer story, with suggestions that the Red Devils have been in covert talks to sign Barca and Brazil superstar Neymar, though the Catalans are thought to have resisted all overtures.
Staying at Old Trafford, Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has confirmed the club will not allow Spanish stopper David de Gea to depart for the Benrabeu this summer.
“I think when Manchester United wants a player he shall come, besides when a club is not selling. It is the same with us. We are not selling De Gea,” stated the Dutch coach.
And finally, Sevilla have reportedly made an initial approach to West Ham United to take target man Andy Carroll on loan to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. The 26-year-old has only just returned to training after another injury, but could Champions League football tempt Carroll to cross from Premier League to La Liga?
