Eagles swoop for Turin frontman Zaza
It seems Alan Pardew won’t be resting on his laurels next year, as he reportedly gets set to spend in the January transfer window in order to bolster his already high-flying Crystal Palace side for the remainder of this current Premier League campaign.
The former Newcastle United boss has guided the Eagles to a sixth and final European spot so far in an unpredictable top-flight table, and they are 9/2 with Coral to finish in the top six, with potential new faces arriving in January.
Juventus striker Simone Zaza is reportedly being tracked heavily by Watford and Norwich City, but it’s Palace who are leading such a chase for this Italy international frontman on loan, with Juventus seemingly content with letting him depart temporarily.
Eagles seek striker for European charge
Pardew’s priority is to land a new striker in order to help cement his side’s position within the European places of the division and, having failed to acquire QPR hitman Charlie Austin last summer, he is holding hope on Italian forward Zaza.
The 24-year-old is a realistic target for the Londoners, with Pardew having already sealed the impressive acquisition of midfield maestro Yohan Cabaye from PSG earlier this year, and he could possibly form a clinical link-up with the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie.
Italian frontman Zaza has only featured nine times for the Turin titans so far this term, netting twice in Serie A against Frosinone and Palermo, as well as a Champions League strike in a 2-0 triumph over Sevilla. He was signed in the summer from Sassuolo but has fallen down the pecking order behind Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic and Alvaro Morata, leaving the door open for a loan switch to Selhurst Park in 2016.
Foxes hunt in the hunt for Milan midfielder
There’s a Serie A trend growing here as Leicester City also prepare to land new a new acquisition from Italy’s top tier, as Claudio Ranieri looks to continue the incredible start to their Premier League campaign.
The Foxes currently sit atop of the league standings, after a sensational start to the season under former Chelsea coach Ranieri, and they are aiming to land AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong in the New Year.
Rossonneri anchorman De Jong is rated at £2m by the San Siro giants, after failing to hold down a regular starting spot in Milan this season, despite having penned a new three-year deal last summer.
Leicester are 25/1 to shock the footballing world with a Premier League title triumph, and De Jong could yet be part of the charge for such success this term, as the Netherlands international engine potentially prepares for a return to England.
The 31-year-old won the FA Cup in 2011 with Manchester City, before helping them earn their first league title in 44 years the following season, proving he has the experience which could benefit Ranieri’s Foxes greatly.
Everton eye Chambers as Stones replacement
It seems Roberto Martinez may be resigned to losing star centre back John Stones after all, as he reportedly readies a move for out-of-favour Arsenal defender Calum Chambers as his long-term replacement.
The 20-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates and may well be interested in a switch to the blue half of Merseyside, where he could revive his career next year.
