Pogba ready for Red Devils return
Reports in Italy are suggesting that Manchester United are preparing to bring back former academy graduate Paul Pogba to Old Trafford next summer, with the Frenchman no longer bitter towards the club.
The Juventus midfield star, also a target for the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona, fell out with former boss Sir Alex Ferguson before leaving on a free. But his current manager Massimiliano Allegri is also being touted to replace Louis van Gaal, which could make a move for Pogba all the more tempting.
United (5/1 with Coral to win the Premier League) are also said to be tracking PSG forward Edinson Cavani, and have been told they can have the tenacious Uruguayan for £32m.
However, one attacker it seems the Red Devils won’t be getting their hands on is Leicester City’s record-breaker Jamie Vardy, who is to be offered a new £90k-a-week contract to stay in the East Midlands.
Pato nearing Europe comeback
Former AC Milan wonderkid Alexandre Pato, meanwhile, is back in the news ahead of the January transfer window, and his agent says a number of clubs are interested in bringing him back to Europe.
The 26-year-old Brazilian in on the radar of the likes of Premier League outfits Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool, while three clubs in Italy are hoping to snap him up.
“Alexandre is back and determined to establish himself as one of the best strikers in the world,” his agent Riccardo Napolitano said.
“We’re evaluating several options for him, he’s a striker admired by many, and he’s completely overcome the muscular problems he suffered in the past few years.
“In Italy there are at least two or three teams among the possible destinations, but of course we can’t say any more. The only thing that is certain is that Pato will be the undoubted star of the winter transfer market.”
Unhappy Honda hoping for Hammers rescue
Talking of AC Milan, their current out-of-favour Japanese player Keishuke Honda is looking to leave this winter. Past suitors West Ham United (6/5 for a top 10 finish) are still hoping to bring him in, as a replacement for injured Dimitri Payet.
And finally, one of the hottest properties in the game, Portuguese winger Bernardo Silva, is a target for Serie A giants Juventus. The 21-year-old has been highly impressive for Monaco, and could move to Turin either on loan or permanently.
