Fulham can deliver on 3/4 double chance against spine-less Liverpool
Liverpool are in form befitting a side challenging for European qualification whilst Fulham’s recent results suggest that relegation is a more pressing concern. However the Cottagers are fancied to deliver at 3/4 in Coral’s double chance market with their opponents shorn of both key players and keen motivation.
At first glance the evens on offer at Coral about Brendan Rodgers in-form Liverpool nicking a win in South London is an attractive price. They’ve lost just once in 10 games, winning six times and their hosts are on a morbid streak of five losses and a draw in their last six games, suffering a humiliating defeat to previously hopeless Reading in their last home game.
However Liverpool have drawn their last three games and with their season winding down into a purgatorial spell in which they can expect neither to climb beyond or relinquish their current position, they are unlikely to be as driven as Fulham. The Cottagers can still be overhauled by two Wigan wins if they fail to garner any more points.
Liverpool proved that they can flourish in the absence of goal-machine Luis Suarez when bashing the hapless Newcastle over long on at St James’ Park, but they’ll also be without Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger against Fulham.
In Agger they’re missing not only a quality centre half, but their main conduit between defence and attack, whilst with nine assists this term Gerrard has served four more Premier League goals to his team mates than any other member of Bredan Rodgers squad.
A full-strength Liverpool gave Fulham a 4-0 flaying at Anfield earlier this term, but the Cottagers can draw confidence from the fact that they did the double over them last season.
The only risk with backing Fulham to grab a much-needed victory is the absence through suspension of carrot-topped midfield dynamo Steve Sidwell without whom they’ve won just one game this season. For this reason it’s Coral’s 3/4 double chance that looks the bet.
