Another goal feast expected when Liverpool host Fulham
Liverpool may have lost some ground on Premier League-leaders Arsenal after a 2-0 loss at the Emirates, but back on home turf they are taken to see off Fulham with ease.
However, the Cottagers are struggling to break away from the bottom three and have to put in a decent shift here to ensure beleaguered boss Martin Jol is still in the job after the international break.
Liverpool to win and both teams to score @ 9/5
The Reds have won five of their six home matches this season, with their sole loss coming against a Southampton side at the beginning of an eight-game unbeaten run.
Fulham’s dreadful form this term offers no indication that they’ll emulate the high-flying Saints with a win at Anfield, but Jol’s men have got on the scoresheet in six of their last seven games.
The former Spurs chief is rumoured to be edging ever closer to the Craven Cottage exit door and could be fired during the international break if the west Londoners lose on Merseyside.
He needs a reaction from his players and they can get some change out of Liverpool’s shaky defence, which has leaked five goals in their last three games.
Luis Suarez to score the first goal @ 5/2
It’s impossible to ignore the Uruguayan’s current claims in the first-goalscorer market, as Suarez has struck earliest in Liverpool’s last two home matches and went on to grab a thrilling hat-trick last time out at Anfield against West Brom.
Daniel Sturridge also fired home in each of those games and Steven Gerrard has converted from the spot twice in the Premier League since the start of last month, but the former Ajax hitman is emerging as the main man up front.
Suarez is 7/2 favourite to finish the season as the Premier League’s top-goalscorer, despite currently trailing strike-partner Sturridge – who is 8/1 – by two goals.
The 26-year-old has been making up for lost time after missing the start of the season through suspension and can continue his incredible form with the opening goal here.
Over 3.5 goals in the match @ 6/5
Liverpool started the season with three wins procured by a single goal on each occasion and although they have only won three times since, the return of Suarez has seen Rodgers’ side step up their efforts in front of goal.
They’ve strolled past Sunderland and Crystal Palace 3-1 in recent weeks and went one better with a 4-1 win over West Brom last time out at Anfield.
Three of Fulham’s last four games have seen four or more goals scored, including a 4-3 loss at Leicester in the Capital One Cup last time they were on the road.
Four goals featured in both of the fixtures between these sides last season and with the blooming Suarez and Sturridge partnership on fire right now, there is no reason why that tally cannot be achieved again here.
