Hope for Man Utd as Vidal move back on and Reus rejects contract

Premier League 5/1 title chances Manchester United are reportedly not giving up the chase to sign Juventus’ versatile star midfielder Arturo Vidal, and have agreed personal terms with the player, according to Chilean press.

Another transfer target for the Red Devils, Marco Reus, meanwhile, has apparently rejected a new contract at his club Borussia Dortmund, and has a current release clause of just £27.6m.

According to reports, regarding Vidal, a £47m bid has been accepted by the Turin outfit and the Chile international could be set to be Man Utd’s marquee signing, despite Juve officials recently declaring he is not for sale.

New United boss Louis van Gaal has already signed midfielder Ander Herrera, but it seems the Dutchman is still in the hunt for another in that area of the pitch, with World Cup star Vidal, 27, top of his wishlist.

The Warrior, as he is nicknamed, has been with Juventus since 2011 and has won three consecutive Serie A titles as well as two Supercoppa Italiana’s, so now may be the time for him to move on and try a new challenge.

Vidal played 46 times last term for the Turin titans, scoring 18 times, and was utilised in a number of positions in the middle, including defensive, central and attacking midfield, and even at centre back.

If signed, he would challenge the likes of Herrera, Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher and Marouane Fellaini, if the Belgian stays, for a starting berth.

Dortmund winger Reus is another who could be on his way to Old Trafford, as the 25-year-old, who missed out on Germany’s World Cup squad due to injury, has reportedly rejected a new deal at his Bundesliga club.

United would face challenge from Bayern Munich and Barcelona for his signature, though, but the question is whether Reus will be able to fit in Van Gaal’s 3-4-1-2 system?

Elsewhere, the Red Devils are on the verge of snapping up 16-year-old sensation Oscar Borg, who has been compared to Gareth Bale, after the left-sided youngster rejected a deal from West Ham United.

The England-educated player has been on trial with Man Utd Under-18s team, and could make a switch soon for a fee believed to be around £250k.
