In-play betting the way to the rich house as West Brom host Everton

There may be numerous punters rushing home from work to ensure they catch the kick off of Everton’s trip to West Brom, but if the away form of Roberto Martinez’ team this season is anything to go by, half time may be a more appropriate time to walk through the door.

Everton have only scored one first-half away goal in the Premier League all season, which was at the Etihad of all places against Manchester City, while at the other end, the Toffees have only conceded three times.

West Brom have not proved much more prolific either on their own patch, with the last time they were on Monday Night Football against Aston Villa being the most recent instance of them scoring in the first 45 minutes at the Hawthorns.

In fact, the Baggies have not scored before the concluding 10 minutes in any of their last four at home and with Pepe Mel gearing up for his first game as manager, there is an increased possibility that he will look to keep things tight early on.

Taking all of this into consideration, the 17/10 offered in the Premier League betting that this match is 0-0 at the half-time whistle is well worth considering.

However, given West Brom’s penchant for late goals and Everton netting in seven of their last eight on the road, there is scope for greater excitement in the second period.

The highest-scoring half being the second is a logical place to start from a betting sense, while 11/10 is available that over 1.5 goals are netted after the break.

It is 4/7 that Everton score at least once in the second half and 12/5 that both teams are on target after half time.

In terms of match betting, Everton’s odds are the shortest for victory at 11/10, with a home win at 11/4 and the draw on offer at 23/10.
