Jovetic jumps to 14/1 for PL top scorer as Coral markets shift
Manchester City frontman Stevan Jovetic has seen his odds of being Premier League top scorer with Coral slashed, after the Montenegro international bagged a brace in the 3-1 win over Liverpool.
Jovetic, 24, has two in as many outings for defending champions City this term, and therefore is now 14/1 (from 25/1) to scoop the title of leading top-flight marksman. Eithad teammate Sergio Aguero, meanwhile, has made a similar impact off the bench, as Manuel Pellegrini slowly builds up his match fitness, and is shorter at 9/2 to be top scorer.
Across Carrington, Manchester United have seen their Premier League title odds drift again dramatically, as new boss Louis van Gaal still awaits his first competitive win in charge of the Red Devils. United, who were held 1-1 away at Sunderland, are now 12/1 chances (previously 8/1) to be champions.
Van Gaal’s charges have also lengthened to even-money (from an odds-on price of 8/11) for a top four finish. Tottenham are going great under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino, however, hammering QPR 4-0, and in reaction to that are now 11/4 (previously 10/3) to take a Champions League place by this method.
Harry Redknapp’s boys, meanwhile, have made a pointless start to their latest top-flight stint and, as a result, Coral have cut them to 11/8 (previously 15/8) for the drop. The Hoops are now the same price as London rivals Crystal Palace, who are still searching for a manager. Burnley remain odds-on 2/5 favourites to go down, following their loss at Swansea City.
Garry Monk’s men were briefly top of the Premier League over the weekend, and their 100 per cent start means odds on a top 10 finish have been cut to 6/5 (from 7/4). Aston Villa (3/1 in this market) have made an unbeaten start to the season too, holding Newcastle United (13/10) at home.
