Kompany return no guarantee of shut-out for Man City against Saints
Much has been said about Man City’s away form picking up now Vincent Kompany is back but City are still vulnerable in defence and Southampton should find the net; back both teams to score at 4/6.
The visitors have conceded 10 goals in the last five games that Kompany has played in all competitions.
Both teams have scored in Manchester City’s two away wins in the Premier League this season and six of City’s last seven games away from Eastlands have seen both sides get on the scoresheet.
Bet on both teams to score at 4/6
Manuel Pellegrini’s team come into this fixture after beating West Brom at the Hawthorns but the 3-2 scoreline doesn’t tell the full story.
City were three goals up with five minutes to go but gifted the Baggies two soft goals.
However the second goal was the very last kick of the game and at no point was the result in doubt.
But that isn’t to say that Pellegrini’s side haven’t had their problems on the road this season and having lost at Sunderland, Cardiff and Aston Villa already, their hosts Southampton might fancy an upset.
The 4/6 about both teams to score looks a safer bet than the similar 3/4 about an away win given City’s mediocre away form; they haven’t won back-to-back away games since January.
Bet on over 2.5 goals at 8/11
Mauricio Pochettino’s team are in eighth place and have started the season very strongly.
However they have only played one top-half team at St Marys’ – which they lost – and the majority of their points gained have come against very poor sides; Crystal Palace and Fulham number among their victims.
They were undone by three goals on the counter-attack against Villa and it is easy to see them conceding against a quick and direct Man City attack.
Bet on over 4.5 goals at 9/2
But the Saints have scored in 11 of their 14 Premier League matches this season, whilst City have scored in all but two of their League outings.
Four of Southampton’s last five games in all competitions have featured at least three goals and that will encourage punters who like the goals markets.
City are always a danger going forward and five of their last seven games have seen five or more goals scored; that run is 9/2 to continue.
However the safer bet of over 2.5 goals looks a steal at 8/11.
