Manchester City to bounce back against Harry Redknapp’s Hoops

In this late Saturday kick-off, current Champions Manchester City will be aiming to push on after their Champions League wobble, and are odds-on favourites at 8/15 with Coral to crush QPR.

Last time the Sky Blues defeated the Hoops was in 2012. City enjoyed a 3-1 triumph, and are 11/1 to repeat that result, with remaining scorers Edin Dzeko and Yaya Toure odds-on 4/5 and 7/4 to be on target again anytime respectively.

Speaking to media ahead of the clash, Manuel Pellegrini sought to end speculation over Toure’s future, following reports that City were prepared to part with the superstar. The Ivory Coast international netted midweek with a peach of a set piece, but has been in inconsistent form so far this season.

Pellegrini said: “There are a lot of reports Yaya will be sold. Nowhere in this club are we talking about that. Yaya is very important.”

One player the Etihad outfit certainly need to cling onto is the Sky Blues’ record-breaking striker and Premier League top marksman Sergio Aguero.

The incredible Argentine attacker has netted 10 times in as many Premier League outings this term, and is available in a marvellous match day special. Coral are offering exciting enhanced odds of 4/1 for Aguero to score two or more goals (maximum stake £20).

Whilst Pellegrini can still count on Aguero and co, he will be without injured David Silva and Aleksandar Kolarov. In a further blow to the Sky Blues’ already shaky backline, influential skipper and centre back Vincent Kompany is also sidelined, with Pellegrini stating, “It is not serious but I don’t know if he will be ready for his international squad.”

Frank Lampard, however, should be set for a return, and is 11/2 to net last or 6/4 to score anytime against his uncle’s side, after grabbing four goals and four assists in seven games in all competitions this term.

Harry Redknapp’s Hoops enter this encounter on the back of a narrow west London derby defeat to league leaders Chelsea. Whilst the capital club have put in spirited displays of late, City’s quality should win out.

The Loftus Road club currently sit 19th in the Premier League, and have tasted triumph just twice in all competitions this term.

Redknapp can rally his troops by highlighting the vulnerabilities in their hosts’ rearguard, and the fact that QPR managed to steal a 0-0 draw last time these two teams faced each other. The Sky Blues have already come undone against tenacious teams such as West Ham United and Stoke City this season, so the hosts are available at 3/1 to split the spoils.

In-form Hoops hitman Charlie Austin is 10/3 to strike anytime after netting three times in his last two games, and 9/1 to fire home the final goal. In a further boost for the home team, former City players Joey Barton and Nedum Onuoha are fit enough to play a part, whilst midfielder Jordon Mutch is also available.
