Manchester United agree Falcao deal as odds plummet for Vidal

Coral understands that Colombian centre forward Radamel Falcao is set to sign for Manchester United on loan. The fee is believed to be in the region of £12m, and sets in motion a series of potential effects.

Following this news, Danny Welbeck is the favourite to be the next departure from Old Trafford, with Tottenham odds-on at 4/7 to sign the England international. Everton are priced at 4/1 to sign the striker, with Roberto Martinez said to be interested in adding to his squad before the transfer window closes. Other likely destinations are Arsenal at 13/2, Newcastle, 7/1 and Hull City, who were thought to be interested earlier in the summer, priced at 8/1.

Whether the signing of Falcao is tactical to act as a sales ploy to attract further star names is something that will be clarified throughout deadline day. Chilean box-to-box midfielder is odds-on at 8/11 to sign for the Red Devils by the end of the transfer window, after being linked with an Old Trafford move all summer. Sticking points were originally thought to revolve around fitness issues, with the player sustaining an injury at the World Cup, as well as failure so far to agree a fee with his club Juventus. Personal terms are understood to have already been agreed between United and the player’s representatives, and following the signing of Falcao this may act as a catalyst to push through a transfer. Ed Woodward may also move for Portuguese enforcer William Carvalho, who is 5/2 to sign for the club.

Louis van Gaal’s team are 16/1 to win the Premier League title, though odds may plummet throughout the day, should any more moves materialise. The signing of Daley Blind should be confirmed by the end of transfer deadline day, while Nigel de Jong has also been linked. Any move for Van Gaal’s compatriot could depend on whether a deal for Vidal crosses the line, with many fans demanding a top central defender.
