Best chance of Gunners glory since Invincibles
With Chelsea’s demise culminating in the dismissal of Jose Mourinho and surprise package Leicester City unlikely to maintain their lead on top of the Premier League, second place Arsenal are in pole position to take full advantage and win the title for a first time in 12 years.
In order to do that, Arsene Wenger’s men must beat Man City here, and are unbeaten in the last four meetings against them across all competitions, winning three. Gunners striker Olivier Giroud has been deadly in December with five goals in three games this month.
Should City skipper Vincent Kompany remain absent, then Arsenal will really fancy their chances of a home win, with the likes of assists machine Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey now in his favoured position and forward Theo Walcott in support of Giroud.
Aguero return a boost for Pellegrini
Lethal Argentina striker Sergio Aguero resumed full training this week, however, and that means Man City will give their hosts something to think about if manager Manuel Pellegrini deems his star centre forward fit to return.
Backed up by Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Raheem Sterling among others, City could easily replicate the 6-3 mauling they last handed out to the Gunners when these two teams last met in the month of December.
An enhanced 10/1 makes for a terrific price for Man City to take all three points from the Emirates and leapfrog Arsenal in the table.
